The Salisbury Community Band has been celebrating the joy of music in Salisbury, Maryland since 1937. It is a survivor of an era when community bands were commonplace, but few still exist at present.
The Band consists of local professional and amateur musicians, from high school students to retired seniors. It is a true intergenerational community of volunteer musicians of all ages who share their love of performing and maintaining the Band’s rich musical heritage.
The Band performs a variety of musical selections, including traditional band arrangements, medleys of musical theater, film scores, marches and popular music. All concerts are family-friendly and free and open to the public.
The Band receives no public funds and any donations are exempt from Federal income tax.
The Band’s home and identity is the historic Bandstand in Salisbury, Maryland City Park. The beautiful outdoor park setting encourages use of lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets on a Summer evening just before sundown.
In recent years the Band also has performed a Winter concert at nearby A Church Called Christ, which also provides an alternate indoor venue for the Summer concerts in case of inclement weather.
Also in recent years the Band has performed an additional Summer concert in Chincoteague, Virginia, sponsored by the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance.

A Church Called Christ has generously welcomed the Salisbury Community Band to perform our Winter concerts each year. Located on Philip Morris Drive, this venue also serves as a home for our summer concerts when inclement weather prevents outdoor performances at the historic Bandstand. We are grateful for their partnership in helping us continue our musical tradition, rain or shine.
