Mr. Howard Snow
Music Director
Mr. Howard K. Snow is a native of Salisbury, Maryland, and a 1974 graduate of James M. Bennett Senior High School.
He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Salisbury (State) University in 1978.
Mr. Snow taught band for 39 years, including 2 years in Somerset County and 37 years in Wicomico County Schools. He taught at Mardela Middle and High School, then transferred to Salisbury Middle School when it opened.
Bands under Mr. Snow’s direction consistently received “excellent” and “superior” ratings at festivals and competitions. He has also been a regular performer on trombone and served as the musical director for a variety of local Broadway musical productions.
He has been a member of the Salisbury Community Band since 1970, performing as a member of the trombone section and as a guest conductor until 2008.
In 2008, he returned to conduct the commissioned piece “Smitty’s Away Overture”, written as a tribute to Dr. Charles F. Smith’s many years of service as Music Director of the Salisbury Community Band.
Mr. Snow accepted the position of Assistant Music Director in 2012. He now serves as Music Director, responsible for putting together concert programs, recruiting musicians, and conducting most selections.
